Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Formutate (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with the Formutate mobile application for Android (the “App”).

1. Files you convert

When you select a document, image or video, the App reads it from your device’s storage, converts it locally using the processing power of your own phone, and writes the result back to your device.

• Your files are not transmitted to us.
• Your files are not transmitted to any third party.
• We have no ability to access, view, or recover the files you convert.
• Converted files and their names are recorded in a history list stored only in the App’s private storage on your device. Clearing history, or uninstalling the App, removes it.

2. Text recognition (OCR)

When converting a scanned PDF, or when using the Image to Text tool, the App may use Google’s ML Kit text recognition to read text from images. This runs on-device using a bundled model. The images are not sent to Google or to us for this purpose.

3. Advertising

The App is free and supported by advertising delivered through Google AdMob. To serve ads, the AdMob SDK may collect and process:

• Your device’s advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
• Device and connection information such as device model, operating system version, language, and coarse location inferred from IP address
• Ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown and whether they were tapped

This processing is carried out by Google as an independent controller under its own policies. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from apps that use its services.

You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time in Settings → Privacy → Ads on your Android device.

4. Permissions the App requests

• Internet / network state — used solely to load advertisements. Conversions work without a connection.
• File access — you choose each file explicitly through Android’s own document picker. The App receives access only to the specific file you select, and only for as long as needed to convert it.

5. Information we do not collect

We do not collect, and have no way to receive:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials — the App has no sign-up or login
• The contents, names, or metadata of your files
• Precise location data
• Contacts, messages, call logs, photos, or your browsing history

6. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the advertising SDK, contact us at support@formutate.com and we will act on it.

7. Data retention

Because we do not receive your data, we have nothing to retain. Data held on your device — your conversion history and converted files — stays under your control and is deleted when you clear history, delete the files, or uninstall the App. Data collected by Google AdMob is retained according to Google’s own policies.

8. Security

Files never leave your device, which removes the transmission and server-storage risks that affect web-based converters. Files stored on your device are protected by Android’s application sandbox and by your device’s own lock screen and encryption. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and you remain responsible for the security of your own device.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data-protection laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it.

Since we hold no personal data about you, requests concerning advertising data should be directed to Google. For anything relating to the App itself, contact support@formutate.com and we will respond within the time your applicable law requires. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

10. Third-party services

The App includes the following third-party components:

• Google AdMob — advertising
• Google Play Services — required by AdMob
• Google ML Kit — on-device text recognition; no data leaves the device

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new “Last updated” date on this page, and where required by law we will seek your consent. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
