Keep your originals. Formutate creates a new file and never modifies or deletes the file you selected. Even so, always keep the original until you have checked the result.

1. Conversion accuracy

File conversion between formats is inherently imperfect. Formats describe documents in fundamentally different ways, and no converter — including this one — can guarantee a perfect result. In particular:

  • PDF to Word: text is recovered reliably, but complex layouts, multi-column pages, tables, footnotes and unusual fonts may be repositioned or simplified.
  • Scanned PDFs: pages that are images rather than real text are read using on-device text recognition. Accuracy depends on scan quality, handwriting, skew and lighting. Recognised text may contain errors.
  • Word to PDF: embedded objects, macros, custom fonts not present on your device, and advanced formatting may not render identically.
  • Video to Audio: the existing audio track is copied without re-encoding, so quality matches the source exactly. If the video contains no audio track, no output can be produced.
  • Image to PDF: images are scaled to fit the page while preserving their proportions; they are not enhanced, deskewed or cropped.
  • Merge PDF: pages are transplanted rather than re-rendered, so quality is unchanged. Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged — remove the password first.
  • Split PDF: each page is copied to its own file at its original quality, and the pages are delivered together as a single .zip archive.
  • PDF to Images: pages are rendered to PNG images at roughly 150 DPI. The text becomes a picture and is no longer selectable; use Split PDF if you need to keep real text. Very large pages are capped in size so they cannot exhaust memory on smaller devices.
  • Image to Text: recognition accuracy depends on the picture. Sharp, straight, well-lit text in a common Latin typeface works best; handwriting and heavily stylised fonts are unreliable.

2. Verify before you rely on it

Always check converted output before using it for anything important. Do not rely on a converted file for legal, medical, financial, academic, contractual or regulatory purposes without reviewing it against the original first. Formutate is a convenience tool, not a certified document-conversion service.

3. No professional advice

The App does not provide legal, financial, medical or professional advice of any kind, and the accuracy of any document you convert with it is not verified by us.

4. Data loss

Conversion requires free storage space, and large files require substantially more. The App checks available space before starting and warns you if it is insufficient. However, we accept no responsibility for data loss arising from device failure, insufficient storage, an interrupted conversion, a force-close, or a battery running out mid-process. Back up important files.

5. Third-party advertising

Advertisements are supplied by Google AdMob and its partners. We do not endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content of any advertisement or any website, product or service it links to. Any dealings with an advertiser are solely between you and them.

6. Your responsibility for content

You are responsible for holding the necessary rights to any file you convert. Do not use the App to process copyrighted material you are not entitled to reproduce, or to circumvent any technical protection measure. We accept no liability for how you use the App.

7. Availability

The App is provided free of charge, “as is”, with no guarantee of availability, compatibility with any particular device, or continued support for any feature. Device capability, Android version and available memory all affect whether a given conversion succeeds.
